Don’t worry if you’re a stickler for the original. I promise the touring cast of “Elf the Musical” does the story justice, and Jackson Hurt’s performance as Buddy the Elf was just delightful. It didn’t feel like I was watching an actor act like Will Ferrell acting like Buddy the Elf.
It’s not often I get to see an understudy in a lead role for a touring performance, so I was pretty jazzed; everything about Hurt’s performance made Buddy even more likable.

“Newcomer (To Atlanta) Jackson Hurt plays The Prince, and he is, indeed, quite charming. His sincerity in the role is only outmatched by his gorgeous vocals.”
- Jody Key (Speakeysie)
“Atlanta newcomer Jackson Hurt cuts a dashing figure as Prince Topher. Glorious vocalists both, the show’s musical highlights belong to Hurt and Tyree, including their duet standards “Ten Minutes Ago,” “Loneliness of Evening” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?”
- Bert Osborne ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
“Jackson Hurt hits all the right notes as Prince Topher and seems completely enamored with the girl in the glass slippers.”
- Kelundra Smith (Arts ATL)
“Jackson Hurt was a wonderful Prince Topher.”
- Brad Rudy (Atlanta Theatre Buzz)

“in “Over the Bannister;” the happiness of shared love is expressed in a duet with John Truitt, well-voiced by Jackson Hurt.”
